I thought I’d put together a list of some of my favorite book-related podcasts. If you’ve been feeling uninspired or are not sure what to read next, this might help!
It’s so cool to delve into a book’s history, to understand what other people thought about it, and to become friends with an author’s work by listening to stories about them.
Want book Recommendations from people like Brene Brown? My most recent & favorite discovery is 3 Books with Neil Pasricha, the author of The Book of Awesome It features guests like Brene Brown, Judy Blume, and Cheryl Strayed who discuss their three most formative books with Neil. What a neat idea!
Love self-help books? By the Book is a laugh-out-loud funny podcast hosted by comedian Jolenta Greenberg & culture critic Kristen Meinzer as they live by the rules of a different self-help book in each episode. Insightful AND hilarious!
Love children’s books? Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton share a children’s book in each episode of Julie’s Library. Is there anything better than listening to Julie Andrews read a book?
Confused about what to read? Check out What Should I Read Next? by Anne Bogel, author and creator of the blog Modern Mrs. Darcy. She also has another podcast called One Great Book, in which she talks about a book from her personal bookshelves in 10 minutes or less!
Want a curated list? The Currently Reading podcast has a great list of Books We Want to Press Into Your Hands and if you enjoy reading challenges, a Reading Challenge on Patreon.
Love Agatha Christie? In All About Agatha, a podcast on The Queen of Crime, every month, one of her novels is revisited. Discussions can range from discussing the plotting & impact of her novels to one of her many (100-plus) short stories, plays & non-mystery novels. If you love Hercule Poirot (I do!) , Miss Marple, or Tommy and Tuppence, listen in.
I’ve also heard great things about Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, But That’s Another Story, The Book Review Podcast (The New York Times), The Paris Review, The Librarian is In (The New York Public Library) and The Literary Life podcast.
Ritu Kaushal is the author of the book The Empath’s Journey, which TEDx speaker Andy Mort calls “A fascinating insight into the life of a highly sensitive person and an emotional empath.” Sign up for Ritu’s newsletter to get two free chapters of The Empath’s Journey.
