I have been watching the INF Summit interviews and thinking about some of the people that especially spoke to me. I really LOVED Mark Pierce’s interview, for example. I connected with Mark last year after his book The Creative Wound almost jumped out at me on my Twitter feed.
I have interviewed Mark for this blog, and you can check out the interview here.
We talked about some really cool stuff, such as the difference between INFP and INFJ intuition. So, it was cool to put a face to the beautiful mind I’d interacted with in the past.
Are there only introverts and extroverts in the world?
It was also really fun to see some of the other summit interviews. In Cat Neligan’s interview, she talked about how she doesn’t believe there is anything like an ambivert. She talked about how some clients come to her saying that they are ambiverts but she soon finds out that they are actually introverts.
That felt really interesting. I feel like I agree with her now that I think about it. The thing is, no one is a pure 100% introvert or extrovert. It’s a preference and we are all leaning towards one side or the other. So, an introvert can also be extroverted sometimes.
But that doesn’t mean they are not an introvert.
As introverts, we can definitely put on a mask and feel a lot of shame around our needs. So, I get Cat’s point. I am guessing most people are either introverts or extroverts. Of course, it’s possible to be right there in the middle of the continuum but that doesn’t seem as probable.
So, there is something to what Cat is saying. Really interesting, I think.
It’s been cool to watch the summit videos and see the ways in which different INFPs and INFJs think. I felt a lot of kinship with so many of the interviewees. So, if you are an INFP, INFJ or a highly sensitive person, check out the summit while it’s still on. You might find some clues to your own puzzle there!
