Books are some of my favorite things. This holiday season, as we look back, I would like to share some beautiful books that would also make great gifts.
If you are a writer, a sensitive creative, or someone who wants to give the gift of words this holiday season, you might enjoy these picks.
For the creatives in your life, I highly recommend Susanne F. Fincher’s The Mini Mandala Coloring Book.
I love her other coloring books as well, but the smaller size of this one makes it easier to complete and feel satisfied with. Discovering Signs and Symbols by Kirsten Riddle is a fun book for discovering signs and symbols from different cultures. For the creatives who feel blocked by perfectionism, Mess: The Manual of Accidents and Mistakes by Keri Smith is a wonderful choice. Keri Smith asks us to cut it up, throw things on it, make messes, everything we are told not to do with books!
A writing book that is not as commonly talked about, but that I loved reading is Laraine Herring’s Writing Begins with the Breath.
It’s a lovely book about writing from our whole body, instead of just remaining in our heads. Another interesting book is the lovely Lauren Sapala’s The INFJ Writer. This is an interesting book not only for INFJs, but for all NF writers who will find themselves reflected back in it. Also, check out Lauren’s interview with me here.
Finding yourself in the Kitchen by Dana Velden is a lovely book for cooks who also like to read. The vintage edition of The Complete Guide to Chakras by Ambika Wauters is not just a beautiful book, but is also full of fun facts like the earthly location of each chakra. For example: Brazil is associated with the sacral chakra, India with the crown chakra. It also has affirmations for each chakra.
Last but not the least is the Give Yourself A Gold Star journal, which comes with guided prompts and gold star stickers, so we can start giving ourselves the positive appreciation we need. It’s a really fun book to use on a regular basis, and I highly recommend it.
